GREETINGS.....

It's been while since our last update - so there's lots to talk about!  Life at Wizitch Cottage has been rather hectic of late as Summer has arrived with all it's gardening requirements.  We've had a busy spring - including attacks of various viruses striking Witchy and Wizard resulting in both being bed ridden at several stages.  We are both well again now although of course we are both still afflicted by our various long term health issues.

Along with the inevitable down periods associated with illness we've also had much good fortune - the 'Powers That Be' have been very kind to us in 2009!  More on this later.  For now, grab yourself a coffee and make yourself comfortable to enjoy this belated Wizitch update.

Welcome Wizitch "Wassup?" Watchers!

It has indeed been a while between drinks - this latest news update should explain our absence.

We have been doing our best to embrace the three 'R's:  Re-use, Re-cycle, Reduce!

As a result we have unleashed our creative sides and have been making all sorts of new treasures out of old treasures!  One example is a new set of three seats which we made using timber (that had originally been ear marked for fire wood) and some 2nd hand nails.  They look great and we have been surprised at the number of compliments we've received about them.

Spring has a sprung in these here parts and this has meant that Wizitch have been busy outdoors...Thanks to the kindness of our new neighbours, we now proudly display a new glass house in the back garden!

GlasshouseIsn't it great how events unfold?  We met the owners as they were moving in.  During the course of the conversation, it came up that Wizitch likes to garden.  They then offered us their old glasshouse (solid frame missing a number of glass panes) as they had no plans to use it or get it repaired.  Before they could get their gear up the driveway, we were passing panes of glass over the fence and carrying the framed along the footpath!  Thanx to a great mate who is a glazier (contact us if you would like his number as his rates are reasonable) we were able to get 14 pre-cut panes of glass and some rubber sealing strips for $60.00!!  Wzrd has since Googled the RRP of these glass houses and they retail for around NZ $1, 900!

We've recently planted the first of the season's seeds as well as performing a rescue mission for the neighbour's tomatoes whichMasculine Salad were purchased, placed in the front window for "planting 'ron" and duly forgotten.  When asked why one of the plants was growing horizontally, our neighbour informed us that it was "resting!"

The strike rate has impressed us both - we have capsicum - some from seed packets and some from some peppers we bought recently, tomatoes & courgettes (kindly donated by friends), cucumber, spring onions, spinach, radishes, peas, beans, corn and mesclun (or, as Witchy likes to call them, "Masculine) lettuce salad mix!

Our goal is to be able to feed ourselves, friends, family and neighbours throughout the year as the glasshouse opens up a myriad of new possibilities and a plethora of choice....we can now look at cultivating plants that require a warmer climate.

With the addition of the glasshouse, it became apparent that we would want to grow lots more veges this year so we worked on moving our old vege plot to the North facing fence (which is sun facing in NZ) and extended it.  Thanks to the donation of some old railway sleepers we were able to put an edge around the garden to stop the lawn invading!

As Wzrd is an avid tomato lover, he has created Tomato henge!!  We will use the structures as cages for our outdoor tomatoes.

Veggie GardenThe circular structures on each side of the garden will support dwarf beans.  If you look closely behind the left hand one, there is another small structure made from chicken wire, this is going to help our cucumbers to grow.  Along the wall of the glasshouse we have already planted some peas and along the back fence line, corn.  The rest of our "babies" are still in the glasshouse as we have been experiencing a bit of a chilly spring over the past couple of weeks.

Whilst we are on the topic of the garden, we've also come into some fruit plants thanks to the Universe and dear friends.  Witchy's Dad has managed to obtain some great wooden crates which we have converted into three planter boxes, a tree house (,more about that later) and some seats for the back deck!

Wizitch belongs to our local FreeCycle group.  Another member is involved in  "Guerilla Gardening" (more info here).  He is planting fruit trees in local parks and playgrounds around Christchurch.  The beauty of doing this here is that our council have many contractors that they "out source" gardening to.  Thus, if one contractor doesn't recognise the plant, they still tend to it as they assume one of the other contractors has planted it!!  The group member had a number of extra plum tree seedlings to give away.

We took three of them, planted two and gave one to our neighbour (a thank you for the glasshouse).  The two that we kept each have two "trunks" so we hope that they will grow up into a Y shape and provide us with delicious yellow plums.  Both trees have taken and are already "greening"up.

Another neighbour was given some raspberry plants and very kindly gave us one.  We have since been able to purchase our own raspberry, a boysenberry, loganberry, 2 blueberries and a berry delight (hybrid mixture bush) as well as a passion fruit plant.

We plan to put the fruit into the planter boxes so that we can position them in a warm corner and move them to follow the sun in the cooler seasons.

All this means that Witchy is hoping to try her hand at jam making, relish making, blanching and freezing!

There is a real sense of achievement in growing our own food - it is satisfying on many levels - the fact that the food is so fresh, we know that it's organic, we have surplus to share with others, the fact that we have nurtured the plants to maturity, as well as the health benefits.

Secret Garden Path

By extending the vege garden, we were able to turf a path under our apple tree to the garden we have created outside the sleepout.  It is 1.5 lawnmowers wide and is lined with bricks that we were given by a friend who has recently moved to Melbourne.

The sleepout is the blue/green building in the background.  The blossoms in the foreground are on the apple tree.  In the twin concrete tubs is the most delicious mint plant that either of us have ever tasted!  It grows rather enormous there are just wonderful fragrances to tease one's nose when sitting beneath the apple tree!

Wizitch 'wecently' went to a wedding..... in Australia!!!  At least that was the plan.  Dear friends of ours moved across the ditch (as the Tasman sea is affectionately known as in both NZ and Australia!) and on his birthday last year, she proposed!  They had a 70's themed wedding and Witchy was given the honour of designing the wedding invitations which she had a ball creating.  The plan for Wizitch to attend was a front row seat via a laptop and Skype.  We entered into the spirit of the occasion and put on our 70's hippie glad rags.  Whaddya'll think?

Sadly, the Aussie end wasn't quite as ready as the kiwi end!  We waited for about 20 minutes, with Witchy having a minor melt down that she had the time difference wrong, until we realised that they were not online!!  Turns out that everything was ready to go, it's just that everyone at their end thought someone else was going to log onto Skype and in the end, no one did!   Whilst we haven't yet seen the video, we have seen some photos and it looked like a great day was had by all.  We were certainly there in spirit and wish our dear friends every possible happiness in their special union.

Didja know that Witchy turned 40 on the 25th of October?  She mentioned to her Dad that she wondered where all the years went.....he was more concerned about how much her age ages him!  Wzrd has been making her a very special present high in the trees of the back yard.  Her very own tree house!   We have managed to source some awesome windows via freecycle and timber from various friends and family members.  This will be a meditative space with scatter cushions, decorated with art created by friends and friends' kids.  Witchy can't wait to take a good book and her water bottle up there and lose herself in the pages of a great story.

Wzrd has also decided to paint a Wzrd original painting for Witchy.  When our mate moved to Melbourne, he left a painting with us that had real sentimental value to him.  With his permission, Wzrd has turned the painting in its frame and is going to put his materpiece on the back of it.

As with all "tortured" artists, these are still Works In Progress (!) and photos shall be posted when they are ready for the world to see them

The festive season has snuck up on us again - in the Southern Hemisphere this means time for BBQs, long evenings in the hammocks and fun with friends and family.  For those of you on the "Upper-side" of the planet, we send you warm & sunny greetings.  Think of us when you are sitting by the glow of the fire.

To all Wizitch community members, we wish you a safe, happy Festive season and A Prosperous 2010.

Witchy promises to attempt to improve her time management skills so that it's not so long between updates next time!

"See" you in the New Year!

As mentioned above Wizard has been building a tree house - this project is currently on hold, much to the frustration of many of our younger visitors - as Wizard has instead been concentrating his efforts on building a new garden shed out of donated recycled materials.  This picture shows the corner of our 'upper meadow' (our somewhat pretentious name for the back part of the property) currently looking rather like a small lumber yard!

The project has been moving slowly as Wizard must take care not to over extend himself or risk further damaging his arms - plus with Xmas approaching there have been many other claims on his time as well.

The aim is to free up some space in the garage by moving the lawnmower and other tools into the new shed - hopefully before Xmas..

The long sunny summer days (well, mostly sunny anyway!) have been producing some lovely lighting around the Wizitch garden.  Here the late afternoon sunlight illuminates an ornamental grass.....

Whilst on another day the setting sun shines under a cloud bank, dramatically colouring the bottom of the clouds in vibrant reds and oranges...

Here's a view from the 'upper meadow' looking back  toward the deck at the back of the cottage.  If you look closely you can also make out a genuine Computergeek enjoy a quiet evening beer and enjoying the Wizitch Cottage ambience.

Finally, no Wizitch update is really complete without mentioning 'the grils': Gremmels and Hubble.  Both are doing well and enjoying the summer warmth and the tender care of their devoted staff -  ie, Wizard and Witchy

Gremmels          Hubble

.

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Salutations.....

A belated Announcement

We had hoped to make this announcement over a month ago however technical issues and a resulting loss of data has meant that we had to postpone this.  Today however Wizitch is both pleased and proud to announce the publishing of an entire new album of 3d Art in our online Gallery.

Followers of Wizard's art will recognise many of these new images but  prior to today no-one has seen them in this context.  There are also several  older images from Wizard's early foray's into 3d Art.  Included are also some brand new, never seen before images so hopefully there's something there for everyone to enjoy.

The New Album, called 'The Chronicles of Inthandonia Part Two' can be found in the wizitch.com 3D Art Gallery.

There you will find the continuation of the Saga of Wizitch Incorporated as they work to save a world from uncertain destruction!

For anyone who has not already read the story so far please check out 'The Chronicles of Inthandonia Part one' (found at the same link as above).

In other news today Wizitch has been very busy at a myriad small tasks - including preparing the new Gallery Album mentioned above.  Wizard has been working on building a range of medieval style 3d model houses - some of which are shown in the new Album.

As usual the gardens at our riverside cottage have been claiming some of our time - being midwinter here things are not growing but fallen leaves don't rake themselves!  The short days and the coldest winter for many years here has also limited our time outside.

Wizitch Cottage has also seen a steady flow of visitors - no doubt attracted by Witchy's awesome baking.  Her legendary cookies are now joined by a deliciously superb Caramel Slice which rarely lasts longer than a day out of the oven.

A regular visitor has been baby Scarlett who is continuing to do well and growing like a weed.  The school holidays have led to a couple of sleep-overs for several of our younger visitors so the house has had lots of delightful energy and laughter running through it.

The feline contingent are also doing well although Gremmils - the older cat - still has the occasional hissy fit at Hubble, recently arrived stray.  Hubble's operation scar has healed beautifully and the hair is growing back.

Witchy acquired a second hand cabinet recently and has down a super job of sanding and renovating it and it now stands proudly in our dining room looking rather magnificent.

Along with all the social hubbub both Wizard and Witchy have also been impacted somewhat by their ongoing health issues, always worse in the colder weather.  All this activity has slowed the production of new content for the website somewhat but we are please to announce that it has still been moving along quietly in the background.

The small but very friendly community at the Wizitch Forums have been getting to know each other a bit better and there is now some rather nice photography and also some music there.  Please take a look through the forum and if you feel that way inclined you are most welcome to sign up and join in the fun.

ThrushOne of our recent guests was this  young thrush.  Captured by our intrepid hunter Hubble the Cat we were fortunately able to release it before it suffered much harm.

We gave it a drop of Rescue Remedy and sat it on a high fence to recover.

After a while it shook it's feathers and flew off so we are hoping it survived it's ordeal!  We're also pleased to report that Hubble has refrained from bringing home any more feathered friends and consoles herself by beating up her little catnip mouse which she chases all around the house.

This provides great entertainment for the humans and seems to keep Hubble happy too.

Gremmils of course does not approve of anything Hubble does which is Gremmils' Standard Operating Procedure

GremmilsThis picture taken by Wizard shows Gremmils indulging in a moment of Zen with our garden Buddha in the winter sunshine.

Although we've had record rainfall and cold temperatures this year we have recently had some nice sunny days.

Already we can see the days slowly starting to lengthen and the sun rising and setting a fraction further south.  There's still plenty of chills in store for us though - traditionally we are still in the midst of the coldest part of the year and will continue to experience cold snaps right up till December.

Still, it's cheery to see the sun and to know that for us Southern Hemisphere types, summer is on the way!

The cold and damp has encouraged many of our local fungi to sprout their fruiting bodies.  Here is a very small fungus that appeared on a nearby lawn recently.

You can see this fellow is very much on the small side by the rain drops hanging on the surrounding grass blades.

We'd love to be able to tell you more about this chap but we've so far not been able to identify it beyond that it's clearly a fungus.

Mushy

Now that at last we have been able to publish another album of 3d Art the plan is to set up another photographic Album.  If the recent past is anything to go by this might take a while but work will begin very soon! Further work on the Chronicles of Inthandonia is planned but this may take some time too.

If you have particularly enjoyed any of the new images please feel free to add a comment on the appropriate page - or even if you didn't enjoy it.  All comments, Compliments and Critiques gratefully received!

Until next time

All the best

Wizitch

JUNE SOLSTICE: Summer begins in the northern hemisphere on Sunday, June 21st, at 5:45 am UT (1:45 am EDT) when the sun reaches its maximum declination above the celestial equator. At the same moment, winter begins in the southern hemisphere. Happy Solstice!

Here at Wizitch HQ it's mid-winters day - this is usually the sign for the start of the really cold weather, a six week period until the next Cross-Quarter Festival day, half way between the solstice and the following equinox.  Some New Zealanders celebrate Christmas at this time as the original festival was a celebration of the Winter and the promise of rebirth with the return of the sun in the Springtime.  With a great number of expat Brits living here (around a third of New Zealanders where born in Britain) there is a strong association with Winter as the Christmas season.

In practices that predate Christianity many European cultures celebrated the Yule Festival.  A tree would be decorated to symbolize fertility and great fruitfulness for the coming cycle, and gifts were often exchanged as a symbol saying that even in the darkest times we still have enough to share with others!  What a great affirmation that is!

Wizitch favours the name 'Xmas' for this festival.  'X' is one of the oldest known Rune markings known amongst the Northern European tribes - it is the one Runic symbol which has no opposite or negative meaning.  The symbol, 'X' is called Gyfu and it means 'gifts' and the giving and receiving of gifts.  A closer look at the symbol soon reveals it's appropriateness.

The extending arms of the 'X' represent expansion, energy spreading from the centre and this is traditionally associated with the Sun, the greatest radiator and giver of life's gifts we can have.  All life stems from the Sun and from a 'Spiritual Centre'.  Between the arms of the 'X' is four inward pointing arrowheads, representing the Four Seasons, the Four Cardinal Directions and the Four Alchemical elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water.  This can be seen as the 'Gift's of the Universe coming to each individual centre of awareness, each person that is open to receiving.  Additionally, the left and right sides of the 'X', ">" and "<" illustrate giving and receiving, Male and Female principles meeting in equal yet different harmony.

'X' of course has other associations with abundance, wealth, gifts and giving - any self respecting Pirate knows that 'X' marks the spot where the treasure is buried.  And additionally many folk also sign off letters with 'X's as a symbol of giving and love, the Kiss.

For this reason, amongst others, Wizitch likes to refer to the Yule Season Festival as Xmas.  This seems like a good way to remember the original 'reason for the season' prior to it's cultural pollution and subsequent assimilation by Christian thought.  Christ, whose personality is archetypically 'Sun-like', is the 'Gift of God' and the pathway to a personal spiritual connection.  Christ's birth is surrounded with 'Gift-giving' symbolism.  The innkeeper who gave them shelter when he had none left to give, the Three Wise Kings with their Gifts of Gold, Incense and Myrrh, the actual Gift of Life itself as symbolised by the act of giving Birth.

So, in the spirit of giving and with goodwill to all humankind, Wizitch would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone, everywhere a very Merry Xmas!

(You can discuss this topic Here)

To Western Astrologers the Solstice also marks the time that the Sun moves from one Sign to another, from the Airy and communicative house of Gemini to the deeper Watery emotional sign of Cancer the Crab.  Cancer has many associations with protection, the soft inner flesh of the crab is protected by a hard outer shell, and ferocious oversized pinchers.  In the same way our Northern Hemisphere friends should protect their soft flesh with sunscreen and our Southern Friends should protect their soft flesh with layers of clothing.

And of course, Happy Birthday to all you Cancerian born folk out there!

As Above, So Below

A lot of Magical thought is based on the Laws of Association and the principle of 'As above so Below" or as a Christian would say, "... on Earth as it is in Heaven".

Here's an interesting example to think about:  Alchemists and Astrologers associate the Sun with the Metal element of Gold, which is associated with the heart and the Sign of Leo the Lion, King of the Forest.

At the moment the cycle of sunspot activity is at an all time low - since regular sunspot observations started there has never been a time when the sun had so few spots.

At the same time World Economics are depressed as the Recession takes hold - there is a lowered amount of activity in the "gold' of the world.

Now Wizitch is not going so far as to say that reduced sunspot activity 'causes' an economic slowdown, or that an economic slowdown 'causes' a reduction in sunspots.  We would have no way to test that hypothesis to see if it can be considered to be 'true'.  By the same token there is no way to confirm that it's not true.  This is a form Cosmic Uncertainty.  What is more certain is that any symbolic correlation between sunspots and financial activity levels can only have relevance in terms of Perception.  We have 'perceived' that sunspots are reduced and that Finances are also reduced.  "As Above So Below" can be perceived regardless of the existence or not of a direct causal link.

We at Wizitch think that it is not very productive to argue whether there is or is not a direct link between between Solar Activity and Terrestrial activity but whether or not it is useful to think about things in this manner!

This image is of the Sun yesterday (credit SOHO/MDI) taken from spaceweather.com - a fascinating and highly recommended site for anyone interested in astrological happenings.  Note the absence of  sunspots.

"Even the reverse side has a reverse side" Japanese Proverb

More general news - The New Zealand All Blacks defeated the visiting French Rugby Team last night, winning the match but not quite getting enough points to win the competition - why is this important?  On one hand Wizitch has only a most passing interest in sport yet on the other hand Wizitch is a passionate sports fan.  The hand that has only a passing interest is even so still gratified that the Kiwi's beat the French - which serves them right for testing all those nasty Atomic Bombs on our South Pacific doorstep at Muroroa Atoll.  OK so they stopped doing that some time ago but there is still resentment here toward the French for having tested their bombs here.

Other news; Hubble the Wizitch Cat and Gremmils the Wizitch Cat are getting on with, if not greater amiability at least with less overt hostility.  There is still some tension amongst the feline component at Wizitch HQ but we are pleased to report that the situation is now much more settled.  Hubble has been doing a little more staring into space over the last few days as she has been to the vets for surgery.  She is clearly still sore and exhibits a tendency to move in slomo - as most cats do only she's doing it more so!

She's recuperating well, and is still as delightful as she ever was.

The Weather? It's cold and grey outside, typical of midwinter in these parts.

The website?  Since our data-loss event a couple of weeks ago things have only been advancing sporadically.  Progress is being made but not as quickly as we would like.  We are committed to bringing lots of new content to Wizitch.com on a regular basis so this setback has been a little disappointing.  We'll keep you all advised of developments as they...er... develop!

The Forums - a small but keen group of core members have been contributing to discussions at the Wizitch Community Forums and we continue to encourage folk to sign up for these forums and share some of the great vibes that are happening there.  If you are interested in music we have opened a new forum called the Auditorium where members can share their music and discuss all things musical.  Please do check out our forums - you might find you like it!

Happy Solstice Everyone!

12:54::09:06:2009 Friday Morning (early)

www.wizitch.com written in Runic Furthark

Greetings People of Planet Earth.....

Here's another of our irregular Wizitch News updates - Here we are just 2 days after the full moon and we have a selection of news items for your perusal.  We have good news, great news, annoyingly disappointing news and general news.

Starting with the good news Wizitch is pleased to announce that our Wizitch Community Forums have started well and are looking good.  We have a small group of core members who are regularly contributing and we have extensive plans to attract more members (plans which have hit an unexpected snag which is part of the annoyingly disappointing news).

So far most of our forum members are 3d Artists in one way or another which is great but we want to attract all sorts of folk with all sorts of other interests too.  If you've got an opinion or a theory or a photograph or a favourite recipe or.... well pretty much anything, please feel free to sign up and add your voice to the existing conversations or start a conversation of your own.  There is no bad input!

Well, no bad input except for spam!  Yes we've had a couple of Spam attacks which makes our forum totally legit - it's not a real forum if it hasn't been spammed at some stage!

Scarlett enjoying Wizard's auraMoving on with some more great news this time - The Arrival of Scarlett!   We at Wizitch are very happy about this long awaited development - one of the greatest joys in our Wizitch existence is our connections with our younger friends, Millie, Tatiana, Kimberley and others.  Scarlett was born to our very good  friends C and N on the morning of June 4th, a brand new shiny sister for Tatiana and Caitlin.  On her second night home from the hospital Scarlett's parents bought her to our Riverside Cottage to introduce her.  Of course Wizitch was completely smitten by the tiny placid bundle.

The picture at left shows Scarlett absorbing some serenity vibes from Wizard's aura.  She clearly approved of  Wizard's performance as a piece of furniture as she slept in his arms for an hour or more, much to his delight.

Wizard and the happy father also performed the traditional 'New Baby Rite' by enjoying a nice fresh cigar each out on the deck (despite the cold wintry conditions). This was a rare treat for Wizard who stopped smoking some years ago. He later said "The cigar reminded me simultaneously of why I had smoked for so long and why I chose to stop smoking!  It was delicious and disgusting all at the same time".Koru - Symbol of family and growth and love

As a symbol to mark Scarlett's arrival in this world Wizard created this special image (At right).  The 'Koru' is the Maori name given to the new unfurling fern frond and symbolizes new life, growth, strength and peace. It is an integral symbol in Maori carving and tattoos.

They come in many forms - this particular Koru is my version of a traditional Koru meaning 'Whanau' - family, extended family, friends and the tribe.  The two large fronds at the top represent the parents, the two smaller fronds represent the older sisters Caitlin and Tatiana and the smallest double Koru in the middle represents Scarlett, the new-born Gemini child.  The Koru (modeled using trueSpace) is depicted against a sunrise to represent a new dawn, a new beginning

Some unexpected news...

Speaking of extended families and new arrivals.....

Witch's and Wizards are trained to expect the unexpected but if Wizitch saw this development coming they very carefully ignored the signs!

Meet Hubble, the latest addition to the Wizitch community.  THubble gazes into spacehis cute little black cat has been sneaking into our house and stealing food from Gremmils' plate.  As you may recall our dear old cat Kryten passed away about 4 months back and Gremmils, our fluffy tortoiseshell moved in a month or so later.    Anyway, this stray appeared to be living under our house and in a tree by the front fence.  She (we think she's a she!) has been getting beaten up by the other neighbourhood cats and with the advent of the cold weather she'd been starting to look a little sad.

As you all know Wizards hate being cold and Witchy has the largest heart in the known Universe and so we couldn't bear the thought of this little puss out in the frost all alone so we enticed her in with a bowl of food and she's been here ever since!

She's settling in very nicely (although Gremmils has something of a negative attitude about it!) and makes a delightful addition to our household.

We've named her Hubble, a name Witchy came up with, that we think resonates on a range of different levels.  Hubble of course was the famous astronomer from Cincinnati who demonstrated that the universe is expanding - our Hubble demonstrated the same thing by expanding our household to fit her!

Secondly, she's black like the night sky - actually a rich dark mahogany colour as you can see in this shot Witchy took of here in a rare sunbeam.

Thirdly like the famous Hubble Space Telescope she spends a lot of time gazing into the distance!  Lastly, and perhaps more suitably for a Witch and Wizard's pet, she reminds us of the famous line from the three witches in Shakespeare's 'Macbeth' - "Hubble, Bubble, Toil and Trouble".

Hubble' is of course the new cat, 'Bubble' is an affectionate nickname Wizard often uses for Witchy, 'Toil' refers to Wizard, presumably because it can be hard work to live with him, and 'Trouble' refers to Gremmils who is having a little trouble accepting that she's now one of two cats rather than Master and Overlord of the entire place!

So all in all it seemed a most cromulent name.  Hubble is possibly the most affectionate cat we've ever met in contrast to Gremmils more aloof and ladylike persona.

Annoying and disappointing news

A cloud of annoyance

Wizitch has been looking forward to posting this update for some time - along with the great news about Scarlett's arrival and Hubble's moving in we were also intending to announce the grand opening of a new album in our 3d Art gallery.  So it's somewhat disappointing and rather annoying to have to say sorry but it's not happening yet.

Late last night Wizard was applying the last final touches to the Album, checking spelling and continuity in the narrative and generally trying to get everything as cool as possible for the publication.  Somehow, somewhere, something went pear-shaped and all the hard work Wizard had been putting into the album over the last week was lost.  This cast something of a cloud over things however it could have been far worse.  The Galleries went down for a while but we were able to restore them - except for the latest work added over the last week.

We at Wizitch always strive to find the lesson in any occurrence and the lesson here seems pretty clear - back up the databases more regularly!  There's been no permanent damage and Wizard has already made some inroads into redoing the lost work.  Depending on other real-world/real-life developments we hope to be publishing the new album next week - sooner if we can fit it in.

We apologise for the delay but hope to present something even better and well worth waiting for.

Caution Surface FloodingIt wouldn't be a Wizitch update without some reference to the weather.  According to the Meteorological Service we have just had the wettest and coldest May in 60 years.Heavy Rain in the Wizitch Garden  Typically, we appear to be living in the only place in the world that doesn't have Global Warming!  We like to do things our own way around here!

Heavy rain and cold winds from the far south bought surface flooding to our street and torrents of cold wet stuff to our garden.  Surface flooding is not that uncommon around here at this time of year when fallen leaves clog drains and winter weather patterns arrive but this season has been a marked contrast to last year when we were treated to a great Indian Summer.

Of course it's difficult to prove but we suspect Hubble the Cat is responsible for the inclement weather - it's likely she organised it in an effort to garner our sympathy!

And that's it for this update - we hope you have enjoyed reading about developments in our little corner of the Pacific Ocean and that you'll come back and visit us often.

All the best from the team at www.wizitch.com.

Announcement!

Hear ye, hear ye .....

Here's another Wizitch update - normally you won't get them so close together but this special notice is to advise you that the Wizitch Community Forums are now live, up and running.

Do please visit, sign up (it's painless) and share some thoughts with other interested minds.  If you are reading this invitation it's because you've been deemed either interesting or interested enough to be of interest!  Perhaps the universe is telling you to sign up!

If you are curious about life the universe and everything with a particular focus on Art, Spirituality, Healing and .... well anything really - please come and check us out!

The forums are divided into four categories;

1: The Front Rooms: Here is the most public and open area with a Welcome area, a casual lounge and even a "rubber room" for venting your frustrations!

2: The Artist's Quarter: For discussion on Art in general , 3d CG Imagery, 3d software and so on.  There are Galleries for your cg images and digital photos and there is a dedicated forum specifically for trueSpace related topics.

3: The Magick Circle: Discuss Spirituality, metaphysics, Healing, hypnosis and the cooking of good food!

4: The Body: Some may consider this the most risqué of the forum categories as it's dedicated to the discussion of Nudity, Naturism and nakedness in general.  If you're comfortable in your own skin you'll be comfortable here - if you're not comfortable in your own skin perhaps you'll pick up some pointers here.

So please come on over to the Wizitch Community Forums and join in.  We can make it whatever we want to.

Re Caligari Corporation and trueSpace

Wizard is committed to continue working with trueSpace and supporting the remaining trueSpace community for as long as possible.  With this in mind he wishes to extend a special welcome to those of you who are trueSpace fans and users.

Augusto (Prodigy) has opened a great new trueSpace forum and I don't wish to take any energy away from the brilliant and great job he is doing there but if you are interested in a quieter and more wide ranging discussion forum you are most welcome at the Wizitch Community Forums where we have a dedicated trueSpace forum.

Whatever your background, if you're interested we'd love to see you there....

All the best
