Hey Paul,

I've been so busy lately I completely missed all these latest posts! Great job on the Vue entry!  Sorry your entry didn't get chosen for the finals, regardless, you've got a very nice piece of work there! I don't know how you guys get all the colors so realistic with the trees and grass, etc.. I still haven't quite gotten the hang of it. Nice job on the clouds/sky as well....I think your overall perspective looks quite good. I can see now what Wizard pointed out about the fore and background scale, but tbh my eye isn't as sharp with the detailed stuff as Wizard, and I didn't notice it straight away until now. I just think it's very cool art to look at, keep up the good work!

I'm going to be looking forward to next year for my first entry!

Cheers

MM

Thanks MM, hope your group animation project's going well - I see from your website that you had some fun recording the dialog.

I'm about halfway through working on my short Hobbit animation and looking forward to when all the rendering for it will be over and I can have a go at the soundtrack :)

Cheers

Paul

Yeah, it's going well, thanks for asking, lots of stuff to learn and do at the moment, especially with Poser. (btw, don't know if you noticed on our site, but we have been recruiting interested, self-motivated, modelers/animators if anyone might want to give it some thought, the contact info is there on the site). I need to come up with 15 different kids characters, which is what I'm now working on, and I'm a little over halfway there. The dialogue session went very well, my niece and nephew really did a super job for being first time voice artists, plus they had a blast.

Looking forward to your Hobbit animation, and I'm sure you're looking forward to creating a music track. Let me know if there's anything you might need when it comes time to do the music, sounds like fun. Yeah, I'm beginning to realize how long these renders take, it's unreal, you would think they would have either a super computer by now that would get it done in a jiff, or the software would be more efficient by now, but guess not!

That's why I like to do a lot of my animations using trueSpace realtime. Of course there's a trade off with the quality but I guess that's just life!

Thanks MM; yes, I saw the recruitment note on your site but I've got quite a few projects stacked up at the moment I'm afraid.

Re the music Thanks for the offer - I'll let you know when I've completed the rendering which should hopefully be in another two to three weeks. - It's something I always look forward to at the beginning of a project but by the time I've finished rendering and I'm ready to record the music I usually just want to get it all finished and done with then I can move on to a new project

Yeah, I hear ya Paul. Just remember in most cases the music and sfx can really go a long way in adding a lot of punch and/or ambiance to a film, just as John Williams or Danny Elfman  . Take your time on the music, it will be worth it in the long run. ;) Speaking of Elfman, I have the Terminator Salvation soundtrack, I highly recommend picking up a copy, well worth it, very inspirational in preparation for any kind of orchestral composition.
